Smiley's People - Soundtrack Album
This product was released in August 2020 on the Demon Records label. It is a re-issue that has been remastered from the original tapes and pressed on 140G 'Blue Diamond' vinyl (a nice touch!).
All well and good if you still have a turntable. Fortunately it is also available as an mp3 download from Amazon and in the iTunes Store if you search for it - they have mistakenly labelled composer Patrick Gowers as 'Patrick Gower'. Bizarrely, iTunes have also classified the soundtrack as 'jazz'. It's almost as if they don't want anyone to find it!
I have the original BBC version on vinyl and I do love to listen to it from time to time. All the main incidental music is there including, for example, the rather raunchy Blaue Diamant music. Each track has small notes attached. For the aforementioned track, Der Blaue Diamant, the notes read, "It costs a lot of money and sometimes more than money".
