Watch

If you have arrived at this site and you haven't seen 'Tinker Tailor' or 'Smiley's People', you're in for a treat!

There are plenty of ways to see both series:

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (1979)
The BBC restored and remastered 'Tinker Tailor' in High Definition in 2019. It's an impressive restoration and well worth upgrading if you only have the DVD.

UK Blu-ray

If you purchased this blu-ray set on it's release in 2019 it's very likely that your copy is missing the English subtitles for the Czech dialogue sections in part one.

The BBC are aware of this error and are offering replacement discs to customers. If you email them at DVDSupport@bbc.com with proof of purchase, the product details and your full name and postal address they will send you a corrected disc.

UK iTunes in High Definition

UK iTunes John le Carre Collection both series plus 'A Perfect Spy' in standard definition (although 'Tinker Tailor' looks very good because they are using the standard definition versions of the 2019 remaster).

UK DVD

US Blu-ray - note this is the six part version which was put together for the US and international markets. It is missing some footage and I have highlight the differences between this and UK release in two posts. Parts 1-3 are covered here and parts 4-6 here.

This release is NOT region locked and can be played on an ordinary UK blu-ray player.

Smiley's People (1982)
In the UK Smiley's People has just been released on blu-ray! It's a very nice package including a booklet (written by yous truly!) with some revealing production notes.

UK DVD

US Blu-ray - note this is the cut-down version which was put together for the US and international markets. It is missing a lot of footage (although all the deleted scenes are included as an extra in the set) and I've detailed the differences between the US and UK versions in a short series of posts: -
