Will She Do?: Act One of a Life on Stage - Eileen Atkins

As we are currently tracking Madame Ostrakova's journey across Paris in a series of in-depth articles, it seems very appropriate to highlight the release of Act One of Eileen Atkins' wonderful memoir 'Will She Do?'

The book doesn't cover the filming of Smiley's People (hopefully that's ahead in Act Two) but it does tell the story of her early life and career up to her Tony award win for Best Actress in 'The Killing of Sister George'. Waterstones described the book as 'A delightfully quixotic and candid memoir from one of our greatest living actors, Will She Do? charts Dame Eileen Atkins’s path from Tottenham council estate to Broadway and beyond'.

Another recent release of interest to visitors to this site might be the blu-ray box set of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Smiley's People. The content is exactly the same as the individual blu-ray sets - indeed both releases are simply housed in a new paper sleeve (see below). However, it's an attractive looking package, so if you have yet to purchase these essential upgrades this might be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
